Paul Kirch, Director,
Oracle Applications Best Practices Implementation Group, The Hackett Group
Affiliation:
Non-User
Experience:
I first worked with Oracle Applications
since version 9.4.2., as a consultant with Coopers Lybrand in 1994. In
1995, I joined Oracle where I worked for 5 years during the period
1995-2000, first as a Sales Consultant in the Oracle SWAT team and later
as a Practice Manager in the Oracle One group. When I started working with
Oracle Applications, I worked primarily with the Financials modules and
later the Distribution and Manufacturing modules. I have managed large,
complex Oracle projects from both the corporate and the consulting side of
projects, so I have a very broad understanding of the entire Oracle
applications sales and implementation process. Over the last few years I
have built up expertise with Advanced Supply Chain Planning (ASCP),
iSupplier, iProcurement, HR and Payroll and have had some exposure to
Siebel, Global Order Promise (GOP), Demantra, RETEK and gLog.
How I can contribute to the NorCal OAUG:
I am a regular speaker at Norcal OAUG
events, Oracle Open World and OAUG. At OAUG Collaborate ’08 in Denver, I
will deliver a presentation on “Using ASCP in Developing a Successful
Global Sourcing Strategy,” chair a Q&A session on Oracle R12, and sit on
the Multinational SIG panel. In addition, I am a member of the Fusion
Council. While with Coopers Lybrand early in my career, I ran a speakers
group that, on a monthly basis, brought together Controllers, CFO’s and
other corporate officers to hear though leaders present on issues of
concern to the financial community. I would like to put my experience in
organizing conferences, skill in public speaking, and knowledge of Oracle
Applications to work in contributing to and improving the northern
California debate on the Oracle e-Business Applications Suite by involving
speakers from companies who can speak to best practices in their use of
Oracle applications.

I have been involved with the Oracle
Applications for the past twelve years, ten years as an Independent
Consultant. I have experience in both the Functional and Technical
aspects of the Oracle Applications. This allows me to take technical
details and make them understandable to the average Oracle Applications User. I
also utilize my technical skills to improve the NorCal OAUG Web Site and
Email communications with the members. I have been involved with the NorCal OAUG
going way back to the BAOAUG days. My effort have helped the NorCal
OAUG receive the OAUG GEO Certificate of Distinction for the past three
years. I am also involved at the national level of the OAUG as the
Workflow SIG Chairman and last year as a member of the OAUG GEO/SIG
Committee.
How I can contribute to the NorCal OAUG:
I have been on the NorCal OAUG Board since it's inception and my primary responsibility has been with User Group Communication. You can see my
handiwork on the Web Site as well as the Emails which are sent to the membership. I have also been very involved with the Organization and Coordination of the NorCal OAUG Training Days
and Seminars.
I would like to
continue as a board member for another two years and continue improving
the communication with the NorCal OAUG Membership. A major
initiative this year is to redesign the NorCal OAUG Web Site. This
has become an urgent task due to our ISP's discontinuance of a tool we
have used for years to maintain the web site.
I have presented papers at
numerous NorCal OUAG meetings, IOUG and OAUG Conferences. I would
like to continue to share my knowledge of the Oracle Applications with the
user community as a NorCal OAUG Board Member.

PeopleSoft
Enterprise, 12 years.
How I can contribute to the NorCal OAUG:
As Oracle continues to expand their product
catalog through seemingly uninterrupted acquisition of other major ERP and
point solution products, the potential membership community for the NorCal
OAUG continues to expand in kind. Previously a long-time member of the
PeopleSoft Enterprise community, now a member of the greater Oracle
community, I present myself for your consideration as a candidate for your
board. I pledge to commit toward providing value to the NorCal OAUG by
leveraging my personal expertise in the PeopleSoft Enterprise domain,
while also working toward increasing the NorCal OAUG’s membership to
representatives across Oracle’s entire and growing list of products. I
understand and personally subscribe to the expectations of the OAUG Board
Members. I have assisted with the activities of other user groups and
SIGs over the years for the betterment of the overall user community. I
have attended six of the last eight OOW (previously PeopleSoft) user
conferences including a speaking engagement at one of these conferences.
As an Executive with Enterprise Solutions Group, who is an Oracle
Certified Advantage Partner and previously PeopleSoft Certified Alliance
Partner, we are expected to maintain an active and mutually beneficial
on-going relationship with all elements of Oracle and as such, I have had
exposure to the sales, product strategy, and delivery organizations. By
building an expanding, diverse, all-inclusive Oracle-product user voting
block, the NorCal OAUG will continue to play an increasingly visible roll
with Oracle and with the worldwide user community. I look forward to
being a contributing member of your board to contribute to this success.
