Driving Value with Oracle Applications Tom Connors, VP Oracle Solution Consulting, Oracle Corporation We may be in a slow recovery, but business imperatives such as product innovation, customer service, and improved profitability are requiring companies to move as quickly as ever. Oracle's applications -- including new capabilities in E-Business Suite release 12.1 -- are powerful enablers for addressing those imperatives. Oracle's latest applications increasingly allow you to get value today by implementing stand alone solutions or to standardize and simplify business processes across the board on a single platform. To determine which new capabilities to focus on, Oracle is using financial benchmark-based analysis to help customers identify which solutions bring you the most business value. This keynote address discusses what's new with the Oracle E-Business Suite and how Oracle is providing value-based guidance to our customers. EBS to OBIEE Integrated Security with Single Sign-on Madhu Kulkarni, Business Applications Manager, Sigma Designs Inc., Steve Pankey (OAC Services) Sigma Designs Inc., did not have a sophisticated single sign-on or LDAP system which would cause tremendous ongoing support and SOX compliance issues. As part of their OBIEE roll-out strategy, the company determined they needed a single sign-on solution between the existing Oracle E-Business Suite (R12.04) and the new BI Applications system. The desired strategy was not only single sign-on, but detailed access within OBIEE that would be controlled by EBS security settings governing dashboards, reports/requests and subject areas. Sigma decided to hire OAC Services to help implement their robust security requirements with all OBIEE/BI Applications (both Presentation Catalog and Repository) controlled by the EBS users utilizing Responsibiliity Assignments. Leveraging some seeded Oracle setups as a starting point, the team was able to successfully develop a complete solution through configuration of EBS and OBIEE. The presentation will provide information on the Sigma Oracle environment, the complete design and solution information and how this information would apply to most supported versions of EBS and OBIEE or BI Applications. |

Allow end users to build their own secure inquiry screens instead. Learn how SolFocus used insight software to provide invaluable, real time data to answer questions in minutes rather than days. Increase Productivity, Streamline Work-Flow Reduce Costs:
Oracle HRMS v.R12 Jamie Trovato, Benefits & HR Systems Specialist, Cortina Systems Timothy Walsh, Consulting Director, USJade In this case study, Cortina Systems will share how Oracle Advanced Benefits, Compensation Workbench, and Self-Service Applications have drastically reduced open enrollment from 2-weeks to 2-days, reduced 60-70% of time spent by HR Management and staff, improved benefits support and analysis, streamlined work-flows, increased productivity and reduced overall costs. HR staffs often manually manage compensation changes and process benefits enrollment, keeping data on multiple spreadsheets, and walk paperwork through the approval process, compromising data integrity and security. HR teams must manually enter employee election data, also compromising data integrity. Employees lack visibility to their current and prior elections, and managers lack real-time data. |

System Validation of 100% Objective Weighting Sasikanth Samudrala, Consultant, Sierra Atlantic, Inc. Sashikanth Sabnavis Abstract Objectives consist of two categories, the first is the Core Objectives and the other Personal Objectives. One objective can hold more value in relative comparison to another objective. The degree of importance of an objective can be found out by the weighting (in %) attached to it. Most business cases require that the sum of the weightings of all objectives to be equal to 100%, which is currently logged as an enhancement. This paper describes how the system can validate the sum of the weightings of all objectives. Objectives a. To prevent users from completing the objective setting process when the sum of weightings of objective is not 100% b. To prevent the Main Appraiser (user) or the HR/Performance administrator from manually calculating the sum of objective weightings c. To act as reference for consultants implementing Oracle Performance Management, should such a requirement arise Tracks Human Capital Management Oracle Performance Management (11.5.10.2 upwards) Industry Focus Any industry Product Line Oracle E-Business Suite Target Audience This paper shall be useful for Oracle Performance Management Functional and Technical consultants responsible for implementing Performance Management and where client requirement for system validation of sum of objective weightings exist. Using Oracle Data Guard for Applications Disaster Recovery …
and More Jeff Slavitz, Oracle Applications DBA, Computer Creations Inc. Historically many companies have relied on archiving and hot backups to provide continuity for a business in the event of a disaster. Oracle Data Guard is a better disaster recovery solution and provides a number of additional benefits. With Data Guard you can create a standby database which is a duplicate of your production database at any point in time. When you combine Data Guard with Flashback you can also use a standby database as a reporting instance or as an instant clone of your Production system. And the best news is that Data Guard is included in Oracle Enterprise Edition at no cost! This presentation will give you an overview of installing and using Data Guard and Flashback as well as lessons learned in the process. |
